The youngest team member determines the category, except for "20 and Under" where all team members must be 20 or under. - Pro boats (canoes) may be used in all categories except Recreational (#14) and Kayak categories (#22-37).
- Kayaks are only allowed in the Kayak categories.

Teams (more than one person) may use any kayak that is 18 inches or wider at the 4 inch waterline. Ironpersons may use any kayak. There is no restriction on length except for Recreational category.
